Rest In Peace Kenzo Takada.

The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed a fashion Icon. Paris based - Japanese designer Kenzo Takada unfortunately passed away on Sunday due to COVID-19 related complications at age 81,  Takada’s passing shock the fashion industry by storm. 

The designer is best known as the founder of Kenzo,  Co-founder of luxury home and lifestyle brand K三 and honorary president of the Asian Couture Federation.  In 1999  Takada announced his retirement from the fashion industry to pursue a career in art, leaving Roy Krejberg and Gilles Rosier to handle the design of Kenzo's men's and women's clothing, respectively.



 Despite his retirement Takada made numerous reappearances throughout the years before the launch of K三 on January 2020. This included a perfume Takada made for Avon in 2016. This was also the same year that Kenzo Takada was made a Knight of  France’s the Legion of Honour. 

“It is with great sadness that we have learned that our dear friend Kenzo Takada passed away today. He was an inspiring and prodigious creator and we were proud to collaborate with him. We will always remember his smile and joie de vivre. The fashion/design world and all of us are mourning him tonight and extend our sincere condolences to his loved ones.” A  statement released  by K三 on instagram said.

 Takada’s legacy will remain strong and his creativeness will never be forgotten. We would like to send our deafest condolences to Kenzo Takada’s friends, family and loved ones.
