Kenshi Yonezu Collaborates With UNIQLO For Exclusive T-shirt Collection
After the release of his highly anticipated 5th studio album STRAY SHEEP and his history making fortnight concert, Japanese megastar Kenshi Yonezu recently dropped his T-shirt collection in collaboration with Japanese fashion brand UNIQLO.
To celebrate this launch, Yonezu’s self-illustrated album artwork is currently on display on New York’s Fifth Avenue UNIQLO store-front and at opposite ends of the world-famous Times Square bowtie in New York City.
The Collection was initially available exclusively online and in Uniqlo stores across New York City from the 7th of August, however, after being sold out immediately upon its release, UNIQLO restocked the collection online and made it available for purchase globally one week later on August 17.
Kenshi Yonezu’s T-shirt collection features exclusive illustrations that he designed. Each T-shirt is made from 100% Cotton and comes in either white or black with the unique illustration taking center position on both the front and back of the shirt. UNIQLO’s official site describes the collection as a “combination of Kenshi's graphic illustrations and photos complete a lineup that radiates an avant-garde and fantastical worldview.”
Our favorite pieces include the white short-sleeved graphic T-shirt with a small “reissue records” illustrated logo at the front and a larger fox illustration located on the back as well as the black short-sleeved graphic T-shirt with the word “HYPE” written in pastel green featuring characters sitting on top.
Sharing his thoughts on working with Uniqlo Kenshi Yonezu stated “Uniqlo has always been around as a part of daily Japanese life since I was a kid. It’s only now that I’ve finally come to somewhat understand how difficult that must be to uphold. I salute Uniqlo for taking the responsibility of always being around as a part of our daily lives.”
