Behind a Picture Perfect Pose
Being a blogger with a disability (more specifically in a wheelchair) has its fair share of trials, tribulations and obstacles most of which I will get into in another article. I would however, like to discuss one obstacle that I commonly face when shooting looks for my personal style page. Finding the right location and pose for my photos can prove quite the difficult feat. This is not an issue that only affects those with physical disabilities, however having a disability does limit the locations I can shoot in and the poses I'm able to create.
As I'm not confined to my wheelchair I believe it's extremely important for me to take photos with and without it . This allows me to show you that I'm more mobile than I may appear in photographs. Although I am able to walk short distances, not being able to stand long enough against a beautiful door or wall without something to hold did make me feel down at first. However, I discovered that standing up isn't necessary to take a great picture. Through the process of shooting looks for my blog I gained a newfound confidence in my wheelchair and myself. I realized that great style photos aren't created from great poses but from the confidence the blogger / model has in themselves.
