PRIVATE POLICY Fall-Winter 2020
New York based label PRIVATE POLICY made an amazing return with their Fall-Winter collection titled “Get Well Soon” at NYFW and it’s message couldn’t be more timely. With this collection designers Siying Qu and Haoran Li sought to uncover the dark side of the US Pharmaceutical industry and stir up conversation amongst today’s youth about what’s happening behind closed doors, making this collection one of best presented this season.
Inspiration from medical attire and accessories such as scrubs, lab coats and latex gloves can be seen throughout the collection that also utilized motifs that take a jab at the industry’s focus on profit over patients.
My favorite pieces from the collection include a sweater with a teddy bear running away with syringes on its back (shown above), a grey and white striped sleeved grey coat with a medium sized white pocket and incredibly comfortable looking grey trousers and an amazingly warm looking white button up jacket with matching white pants. I could see myself wearing every piece ( with the exception of the dresses) from this collection and can’t wait to stock my closet with it this coming fall.
What I love most about Private Policy besides their incredible clothes is how the brand uses its platform to discuss and bring to light issues that are affecting todays society. As stated in the press release for the new collection “The title “Get Well Soon” is a genuine wish for the American pharmaceutical industry, whose “sickness” needs to be cured.”
