THE CONSTANT QUEST

Moving from Indonesia where the local fashion Industry (like the rest of Asia) is booming with emerging designers and brands who's talent rival that of some of fashion's biggest names, I have found myself on a constant quest to get my hands on some of America's newest talent. If you know me well you'll know I'm a sucker for clothes created by emerging designers who are burning with a passion that allows them to create fresh and unique pieces that aren't seen anywhere else. Luckily for me within my first week in nations capital I found an amazing independent boutique named Redeem. Redeem not only houses American talent but also carries emerging designers from Australia, Asia and Europe making it my favourite place to shop in DC. As a fashion consultant it is very refreshing to see a store give emerging designers from around the world a chance to break into their local market.

Over the past six months I have noticed that it is becoming increasingly harder and harder for smaller brands to make their mark and be given a chance to shine. This may be due to the fact that a lot of consumers prefer to shop at fast fashion stores that offer affordable clothing, go online or they would rather save to own pieces from bigger more commercial brands. This being said, It is stores such as redeem, sincerely Tommy and more that bring something fresh and interesting to the city they sell in. To me these stores / boutiques and the clothes they carry are the gems of America's fashion industry that deserve a lot of love and attention. I highly encourage you all to find your city's special store or independent boutique  that promotes clothes that will have you ahead of the crowd. who knows, you may even be wearing the next Ganni before everyone else and not even know it yet.

happy shopping!
