The Best Of Jakarta Fashion Week 2016
Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) is one of the biggest events on Jakarta's social calendar.
October 24 2015 marked the begging of Jakarta Fashion week 2016 which saw some of the best Indonesian and international designers showcasing their latest collections.
As i wanted this extremely overdue post to primarily focus on the pictures i took during JFW i won't be boring you with a lengthy article. Instead i'll be providing short blurbs on each designer.
Peggy Hartanto
Peggy Hartanto is arguably one of Indonesia's most successful designers in both the domestic and international markets. Known for her signature cuts Peggy showed an extremely fashion forward collection that solidified her status as one of the industries most talented young designers.
Albert Yanuar
Albert Yanur is recognized as one of Indonesia's most detailed designers. Albert takes pride in making every women who wears his clothes feel beautiful. Alberts breathtaking collections constantly defy expectations and wow crowds at every fashion event he participates in.
Major Minor
According to Major Minor preppy yet slightly quirky, innovative and dynamic are some of the words that describe the label. With clean-cut pieces in eye-popping colors Major Minor is proud of the fact that all of their garments are designed and produced in Indonesia.
Dana Hadi & Chossy Latu
Dana Hadi & Choosy Latu's collaboration collection brought an elegant touch to the runway of Jakarta Fashion Week with bright colors, gorgeous clothes and extremely interesting head pieces.
Haryono Setiadi
Acclaimed designer Haryono Setiadi traveled from Australia to his native Jakarta in order to participate in Jakarta Fashion week. Nominated twice for the International Woolmark Prize Haryono has proved himself as one of most successful and talented young designers of this generation. His cuts and shapes present an extremely fashion forward, fearless and modern day women who is ready to take to world by storm.
Toton
Legendary designer Toton is arguably one of the best womenswear designers in Indonesia. Toton has a unique design ascetic that is inspired by Indonesian culture, his designs are renowned for being extremely fresh, creative and beautiful.
Suzuki Takayuki
Japanese Designer Suzuki Takayuki's collaboration collection with Michelle Tjokrosaputro was a great example of how beautiful things can be created when cultures collide, The subtle yet strong incorporation of Batik blended perfectly with Suzuki's white garments creating the perfect balance of color
Ardistia New York
Ardistia once again brought her timeless style back to the runway at JFW 2016, Ardistia's academic backgrounds in engineering and fashion are evident through her extremely well structured pieces. This collection was no exception with classic cuts that played of purple, white and black.
Soulpot Studio
Korean brand Soulpot Studio delivered a taste of Seoul style to the JFW runways with beautifully tailored pieces including dresses and tops. I found each piece of their collection that came down the runway impressive and unique from anything else i had seen during JFW.
