In the royal garden of Pattric Boyle (An introduction to the label)
Last October during Jakarata Fashion Week I met an amazing individual by the name of Akara (Luis) from Thailand. Akara is the head designer of Thai womenswear label ICONIC who was featured in my Best of Jakarta Fashion Week 2017 Article. Although I had spent a good portion of my university years in Thailand I neglected to immerse myself in the vibrant country’s fashion culture. It was only when I came to Indonesia two years ago and began working in South East Asia’s fashion industry that my eyes were opened to the amazing talent possessed by designers in this region.
When I travelled back to Thailand this past Christmas (for the 5th time in the span of one year) Akara Introduced me to Nattakon, a talented designer who is the creative director of menswear label Pattric Boyle. Although both Indonesia and Thailand have thriving fashion scenes menswear is still quite a niche market that is growing more popular year by year. Upon meeting Nattakon I was blown away by his sheer talent that makes Pattric Boyle one of the best menswear labels I have seen in Asia.
After looking carefully through each and every piece of Pattric Boyle Royal Garden collection I decided to select the royal peacock embroidered t-shirt (featured in this article) as my garment of choice due to it’s stunning detail and overall look. The Royal Garden collection is inspired by Chinoiserie (A European interpretation of Chinese and East Asian artistic traditions prevalent in the 17th and 18th centuries). References of Chinese literature, colours, and nature tell the story of an Emperors garden and can be seen throughout the entire collection. A mix of green, mint, sky blue, yellow, pink, and red pastels are also present within the collection and are featured in some of Pattric Boyles signature pieces (seen here).
Nattakorn is deferentially a designer to watch in 2017 and if his Royal Garden collection for Pattric Boyle Is any indication, we can be sure to see more amazing things from him and the brand this year. I encourage all you trend setters out there who have yet to absorb yourself in the world of o Pattric Boyle to do so now I promise you won’t regret it.
