Best of Jakarta Fashion Week 2017
Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW 2017) is one of the biggest and most respected fashion weeks held in South East Asia. Each year designers from across the globe will descend on Jakarta to present their collections on the runway and / or give buyers a closer look at their garments and accessories in the JFW show room.
For those who did not get the chance to attend JFW or would simply like to check out what JFW has to offer, I hope you enjoy discovering the best of Jakarta Fashion Week 2017.
TOTON
Toton has come a long way since he presented his last collection at Jakarta Fashion Week 2016 (held on October 2015). Since then Toton was nominated for and won the International Woolmark Prize Asia region final for womenswear. He will be heading to Europe early next year to compete in the global competition that could see him winning the coveted International Woolmark Prize and the chance to get his collection sold in the world’s top boutiques and department stores through the International Woolmark Prize’s extensive retail partner network. This year Toton presented another amazing collection that proves why he caught the heart of The Woolmark judges and Indonesia.
YOSAFAT DWI KURNIAWAN
Talented designer Yosafat Dwi Kurniawan once again amazed his audience with another stunning collection. Yosafat is a designer who continues to mature and blossom with each collection he presents. His unique design aesthetic makes him a truly amazing designer that I'm excited to see go extremely far in the near future.
SUZUKI TAKAYUKI
Japanese designer Suzuki Takayuki is arguably one of my favorite designers to ever show at Jakarta Fashion Week. His runway show with local brand Bateeq is the perfect example of a cross cultural collaboration at its finest.
ALBERT YANUAR
The runway king of wings Albert Yanuar graced the JFW runway with his signature style that had everyone in awe.
SKY INC JAKARTA
SKY INC showed us a new kind of swag and sexy that only they can pull off. This collection was fun, fresh and oh so fabulous.
ICONIC
Thai label ICONIC brought their latest collection to Jakarta for the very first time. ICONIC is a label that uses different prints to create collections that represent iconic women of the past and the present. Their latest collection is inspired by the ancient Egyptian queen Nefertiti.
MEL AHYER & HAPPA
Popular designer Mel Ahyer showcased her latest collection as well as her HAPPA line collection which is a collaboration between herself and friend Andien Aisyah
B.Y.O
The beautiful B.Y0 has come tremdosly far after debuting their first collection last year. As of today the brand continues to rise in popularity and doesn't show any signs of slowing down anytime soon.
RANNI HATTA
Ranni Hatta is one of my favorite modest wear designers. Her clothes although labeled modest can be worn by all women who are looking for a cool new street style look.
LIE SANG BOOG
Legendary Korean designer Lie Sang Boog showcased his latest collection consisting of both menswear and womenswear pieces. The garments incorporated both Korean and western elements that wowed the crowd.
PEGGY HARTANTO
The talented Peggy Hartano's new collection took inspiration from Lili Elbe's portrait painting of her former wife Gerda Wegener. Peggy experimented with a theme of dualism that is evident in womenswear looks with contrasting yet completing earthy pastel colors, volumes and 1920's accents.
NORMAHAURI
Before entering the tent to attend Normahauri's show I honesty didn't know what to expect as i had never heard of the label before. I was pleasantly surprised to find myself looking at another modest wear designer who is breaking the stereotypes and boundaries associated with modest wear and presenting a strong kick ass collection that left me wanting to see more.
SEAN & SHEILA
As a fashion blogger nothing makes me more proud than to see my friends collections go down the runway. Sean & Sheila's show was one that I would watch on youtube over and over again until i got tired of it. Everything about their show was perfect. The models, music, theme and of course the clothes were all on point. I can't wait to see what they come up with next year.
{P.S I have already purchased one of their bomber jackets and can't wait to show it to you all)
WILLIAM LONG
Having never seen William Long's clothes before I was extremely impressed of his talent and believe this guy is one to watch.
YELLY
clean-cut & Beautiful
KHANAAN
ANNE AVANTIE
A legend among legends Anne Avantie took JFW by storm when she presented another spectacular runway show. As a non Indonesian I feel extremely blessed and lucky to have attended her show for the second year in a row.
